High Blood Pressure Biggest Risk Factor for Early Death, Tai Chi Can Help
High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is often called the “silent killer” because it's a serious condition many people are unaware they have. Now, a new study has found that hypertension may be the single biggest risk factor for death from any cause – not just death from cardiovascular disease.
The research was conducted in Australia but likely holds true for many other countries, including the U.S. where nearly 50% of adults are estimated to have high blood pressure with only 1 in 4 having it under control. When uncontrolled, hypertension raises the risk for heart failure, stroke, dementia, kidney failure, and much more.
One proven natural way to help lower high blood pressure levels is exercise. Though aerobic exercise – walking, jogging, cycling, etc. – is often considered to be the “gold standard”, another recent study has found that tai chi may be even more effective at combating hypertension.
When they were compared side by side, participants who took part in four tai chi sessions per week experienced an average decrease of 7.01 mmHg in systolic blood pressure after 1 year. Those who participated in an equal amount of aerobic exercise had an average blood pressure decrease of 4.61 mmHg.
Red Light Therapy Lowers Blood Sugar, May Help Manage Diabetes
Red light therapy may help to lower blood sugar levels, according to some recent research. In the short term, it reduced both peak blood glucose levels and total blood glucose levels, suggesting potential benefits for those with type 2 diabetes.
Red light therapy is relatively new and utilizes low-wavelength red or near-infrared light, typically targeted at a specific area of the body. The light can penetrate the skin to positively affect mitochondria, resulting in better cellular energy, function, and repair – something that may improve glucose metabolism.
The study was a small one that involved 30 healthy participants divided into two groups. One group received red light therapy for 15 minutes before drinking a sugary beverage, while the other group received no treatment. Overall, the red light group had significantly improved blood sugar levels compared to the control group.
Despite the positive outcome of the study, it should be noted that none of the participants had type 2 diabetes, meaning further research is needed to confirm potential benefits for diabetics. Research is also ongoing to explore red light therapy as a potential treatment for skin conditions, wrinkles, arthritis, dementia, and more.

Beta Glucan: The Immune System "Cheat Code"
In 1990, an immunologist from the University of South Carolina heard about an ingredient Japanese scientists were researching at $1,410 per dose. So, he took a trip overseas to see what it was all about.
Turns out he discovered an immune system ‘cheat code.’ He came back to the United States and figured out how to make it…
But for a whole lot cheaper (around $0.60 per capsule!) & it revolutionized the supplement world forever.
The University of Louisville tested it, and found out it was 160x more effective than Vitamin C.
In fact, The American Nutraceutical Association hailed it as "The Most Effective Dietary Supplement for a Healthy Immune System."
There are over 200,000 published studies about this feel good ‘cheat code,’ making it the most researched immune modulator on the planet.
It’s called Beta Glucan, and this blend of Vitamin C, Resveratrol and Selium is a simple solution to support a strong immune system long-term.

The Incredible, Little-Known Health Benefits of “Sea Greens”
Sea greens, also known as sea vegetables, are a dietary staple in certain regions of the world but are only just becoming popular in countries like the U.S. These edible plants – mainly algae and seaweeds – are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals, including the ever-important B vitamins, potassium, calcium, and thyroid-supporting iodine. They also contain gut-healthy fibers called polysaccharides as well as inflammation-fighting omega-3s and antioxidants. (More)
Impaired Spatial Navigation Could Be Early Sign of Alzheimer's
Many symptoms of Alzheimer's show up at the onset of the disease, but there's one that may appear several years beforehand, according to a recent study. That symptom has to do with spatial navigation, which refers to the ability to determine and maintain a course between two locations. Using virtual reality, researchers determined that impaired spatial navigation may be an early sign of Alzheimer's disease, showing up even in the absence of other cognitive symptoms. (More)
Artificially Sweetened Beverages May Raise Atrial Fibrillation Risk
Atrial fibrillation is the technical term for an irregular heart rhythm and raises the risk of blood clots, stroke, and heart failure. Risk factors for atrial fibrillation include age, high blood pressure, and family history – and potentially drinking sweetened beverages, as a new study found. Artificially sweetened drinks appear to be the worst and were associated with a 20% higher risk of atrial fibrillation. Sugar-sweetened drinks were somewhat better, carrying a 10% increased risk. “Ear Acupuncture” May Help Improve Depression Symptoms
Depression continues to be one of the most prevalent mental health disorders and is also one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Though antidepressants are still considered a first-line treatment, they can be costly and often come with adverse side effects, leading to the need for alternatives. One such option could be auricular acupuncture – an ancient Chinese technique that involves inserting thin needles into the outer ear. It was found in a recent study to improve moderate depression with 46% of participants reporting total symptom cessation. (More)
11 Toxic Additives to Avoid in Your Toothpaste
Toothpaste is meant to clean your teeth, but it often contains potentially toxic chemicals that can harm your overall health. One of the worst offenders is artificial dyes, which have no benefit but are linked to health effects like allergies and DNA damage. Artificial flavors or sweeteners are also commonly found in conventional toothpaste as are hormone-disrupting parabens. You'll also want to check the label for carrageenan, which may disrupt gut health, and chemical whiteners. (More)

You may feel pain instantaneously when you touch something hot or stub your toe, but it actually involves a fairly complex process. Pain signals are sent by specialized nerve cells called nociceptors. They travel through the spinal cord to the thalamus and are eventually routed to other areas of the brain for processing.
